Counseling Muslims is a professional seminar that seeks to help attendees develop competencies in the counsel and care of Muslim clients through guided lessons and case studies. Attendees will receive instruction in the most highly-recommended approaches for the care of Muslim clients based on trends within the professional literature and the experiences of the instructor.
In addition to practical skills, attendees will also receive an overview of the Islamic faith together with details about the history of Muslims in Edmonton and demographics. Moreover, the instructor will provide Islamic cultural and religious perspectives on mental health, counselling, and well-being.
Although this workshop is focused specifically on the care of Muslim clients, the competencies developed will better enable participants to work within any multi-cultural and multi-faith setting.
